Coolant filters are not a new idea to the diesel engine world, and they come pre-installed on most OEM applications for medium-duty and OTR tractor-trailer rigs. The idea was tossed aside for light-duty applications, but it is still an equally important issue that needs to be addressed. Many diesel engines, such as the Powerstroke, are cast using sand. This sand is NOT completely removed from the system and leeches out of the casting over time. This sand wears away at water pump seals, hoses, and radiators, and removal can significantly increase the life of your water pump, radiator, oil cooler, and EGR cooler. Diesel engine coolant also contains additives that are designed to protect the cylinders from cavitation erosion, which naturally break down into a solid organic form. This process is called sediment fallout, the byproducts of which is equally as abrasive as sand to sensitive parts.

One major benefit of installing the 6.0L coolant filter is the protection it provides to the oil cooler, and consequently, the EGR cooler. The coolant passes through the oil cooler before proceeding to the EGR cooler. When the oil cooler becomes clogged with debris in the cooling system, the egr cooler fails as a result of insufficient cooling of exhaust gases before they re-enter the engine. When either of these parts fails, the easiest option is typically removal and/or replacement, which is a less-than-desirable task.

The kit features a custom CNC-machined tee (weighing only a couple of ounces) to tap into the heater line, eliminating additional weight from the heater hose. In addition to the machined fitting, a custom stainless steel mounting bracket has been designed specifically for an easy install on the 6.0L Ford PSD.  All clamps are made of 100% stainless steel, including the clamp screws.

The DIESELSITE Coolant Filter Install Kit will remove the loose particles in your cooling system and give your water pumps, radiators, water necks, and radiator hoses the protection they need from these abrasive materials.  Wear is virtually eliminated by the removal of undesirable elements in your system.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The DIESELSITE Coolant Filter Kit is a bypass-style system that filters a small amount of the coolant on each pass.  By using a spin-on filter, they make it easy for you to change your coolant filter at regular intervals.  These filters will remove all solid particles -- new or old. It's never too late to install a coolant filter to extend the longevity of your cooling system components. While you cannot reverse the damage that is already done, you can eliminate further damage from occurring.

The DIESELSITE Coolant Filter Install Kit includes all fittings, Stainless Steel bracket, hose and stainless steel clamps needed for installation.

Recommendations on filter changes:
Use one filter every three months for the first nine months after installation. The lack of flow into the expansion tank is an indication that your filter is plugged. Change the filter if it should plug before the 3-month interval. After the 4th filter is installed your filter should be changed once per year.
